Earlier this week fifteen local and international riders took part in the first edition of the Ethio Mountain Challenge, a new event in Ethiopia for road cyclists who competed over six timed sections, 375km of riding, and 6300m of climbing.

The top three finishers were Haftab Weldu (total time 2:19:08), Richard Gregory (+0:07:56) and John-Paul Fanning (+0:13:03).

Six young Ethiopian riders who have been selected into the new Ethio Cycling Holidays team also took part in the event.

Riders were also able to participate in a local crit race during their stay in Mekelle.
