Daniel Hughes, who made a name for himself by delivering the world’s highest video broadcast to the BBC from the summit of Everest, has just finished an epic 5-day cycling tour with Ethio Cycling Holidays.

On his first trip to Ethiopia and riding with his wife Carali, Daniel described his tour as “unbelievable” and “extraordinary” – which is saying something, as Daniel travels to over 40 destinations around the world each year.

“Everywhere we went from Mekelle and beyond the people were super friendly – so warm, generous and good-natured,” commented Daniel on his lasting memories from the trip. “Of course it helped having Sammy and Binyam to look after us who were totally stellar – and we had a great time hanging out with them.”

“The riding was superb. I love undulations and the roads are super smooth – much better than in Surrey! I loved ‘beasting my way’ up the climbs!”

Daniel and Carali topped off their stay in Ethiopia with a two-night stay at the 5-star Hyatt Regency Hotel in Addis Ababa where they described the service as “impeccable”. They also enjoyed Cloud 9 service on board Ethiopian Airlines for their 7-hour flights between London and Addis Ababa.

Daniel has posted stories about the trip on his Instagram page here.
