Tsgabu Grmay

Tsgabu is the first Ethiopian professional cyclist to ride in a Grand Tour. He first competed in the Giro d’Italia in 2015 and competed in the Vuelta a Espana in the same year. In 2016 he became the first Ethiopian rider to compete in the Tour de France. He placed 92nd in 2016 and 73rd in 2017.

Tsgabu comes from a cycling family. His father was a cyclist in the 1970s and 80s; his brothers are cyclists; his wife is an international cyclist.

Tsgabu’s professional career started with MTN Quebeka in 2012 which followed spells of training at the African UCI Continental Centre in South Africa and the World Cycling Centre near Geneva in Switzerland.

Tsgabu is a two-time national road race champion, three-time national time trial champion, and one-time African time trial champion. He currently rides for UCI World Team Mitchelton–Scott.
