Mekelle, the centre of road cycling in Ethiopia, is where hundreds of aspiring cyclists train throughout the year. Unlike our other tours, this tour is based predominantly in Mekelle, using one hotel as your base, apart from one night away to break up a 285km loop midway through your stay. Over the first three days you will ride on different routes taking you out and back to Mekelle, any of which can be repeated towards the end of your stay. The map shows the spectacular ride through Abala into the Afar region. We provide support for your rides and with sports massage afterwards as required.

Itinerary: 10 days in Ethiopia | 8 days cycling | Total 960km | 1 travel day + 1 rest day

You arrive in Mekelle, having connected onto a domestic flight in Addis Ababa. You are met at the airport and transfer to your guest house nearby. In the afternoon you have time to assemble your bike and go out for a short ride before dinner.
